FeedSafe® is the industry sponsored program for quality assurance. Stock Feed Manufacturers’ Council of Australia (SFMCA), as the national representative body of feed manufacturers, is the owner and manager  of the FeedSafe® program on behalf of the industry.

Structure

FeedSafe® utilises the FeedSafe® Panel to make decisions regarding manufacturer and auditor issues of non-compliance to FeedSafe® Policy and Standards and the integrity of FeedSafe® as a recognised program of high quality that adds value to manufacturers.

The FeedSafe® Management Team is a team of support within SFMCA. It is responsible for the administration and support required for the FeedSafe® program to run.

The regular auditing of quality assured manufacturers is conducted by third party approved auditors to ensure FeedSafe® is a robust and credible quality assurance program with manufacturer compliance verified through independent audit system.

Purpose

FeedSafe® is designed to provide the framework and tools for animal feed manufacturers to demonstrate their practices for feed/food safety, traceability, biosecurity, environment, transport and overall systems management.

FeedSafe® Certification enables animal feed manufacturers to demonstrate that they are meeting relevant State and Federal legislation and following good manufacturing practices.

FeedSafe® also supports the numerous requirements set by the various livestock industries in their QA programs (e.g. APIQ, NFAS) by providing the necessary supporting QA framework.
